The War Within Season 2 Renown Catch-Up Guide
Patch 11.1 brings great news for alt characters in The War Within! The four original renown vendors of Khaz Algar have updated their quest rewards to include Season 2 Undermine Crests and Valorstones. These rewards do not count toward the seasonal cap, making them an excellent way for new or returning characters to gear up before stepping into Mythic+ dungeons or raid content.

If you’ve already progressed through Season 1 renown, check back with the original renown vendors to see what’s available for your alts:
At specific renown levels, these faction quartermasters offer simple turn-in quests that provide Carved Undermine Crests, Weathered Undermine Crests, and Valorstones. While players who maxed out renown in Season 1 may have already completed these quests, they are character-specific rather than account-wide, meaning your alts can still turn them in for additional upgrade currency.
Season 2 Crest Rewards for Alts
Instead of reducing these quests to minor rewards like gold or Resonance Crystals, Blizzard has fully updated them to include Season 2 Undermine Crests. This change allows players to upgrade crafted gear faster and catch up more easily. However, keep in mind that Enchanted Crest rewards remain exclusive to max renown characters, so you won’t be able to reclaim those bonuses.
Why This Matters for Alts
- No Seasonal Cap Impact – These crests and Valorstones won’t affect your weekly crest cap, making them a great way to get additional upgrade materials.
- Easier Catch-Up for New Characters – Newly leveled alts can quickly acquire Season 2 gear upgrades without grinding dungeons right away.
